Make-Up Revolution - by Petra X palette

This palette presents so many possibilities of looks, it's crazy. Being a busy bee, I haven't had the chance to play with it as much as I wanted to, but hopefully that will change soon! The sooner, the better.
To me, Make-Up Revolution is a "controversial" brand, meaning some palettes/ shades can be really pigmented, some can be too sheer. I find that, in this particular palette, almost all of the shades are really pigmented, especially the matte ones. Here's a look I created with the by Petra X palette, and below, you can see some swatches done on a thin layer of primer.

LOTD: Vamped

Have been preparing this post for a few days now, but I kept sticking to reviews because I'm behind on a lot of products waiting in line to get a little attention on the blog. I was in such a make-up mood that day that I did like 3 different looks with the same eye make-up (adding a bit to it meanwhile though). I ALWAYS accentuate my eyes regardless if I have a natural lip color or something crazy, mostly with black eyeliners and some dark shades at least, in different combinations of course.

I love eye make-up looks that are heavy on the upper lid/ lashes and sparkly on the lower ones, makes them look bigger and more open, and a hint of retro. If you like prominent make-up, this can be ideal for Valentine's Day mainly because of the colors. Producs used:

Produse folosite:

Lucy Minerals foundation (review soon!)

- GOSH Catchy Eyes mascara
- eyelash curler
- Manhattan black mono eyeshadow (forgot to add in the pic, sorry!)
- Balea grapefruit lipbalm

Review: GOSH Smokey Eyes Palette

   Happy holidays, everyone!
Frankly, I am not such a big fan of holidays and stuff, so I didn't make a huge fuss out of it, but I did enjoy the parties, family, boyfriend and friends so far!
Now I will finally review the palette GOSH were nice enough to send me, along with other amazing products. Eventhough they chose the products and colors for me, they nailed it pretty well, this is 03 Plum! Along with blacks and greys, I use natural shades mostly, especially at the moment. More like, I combine black with natural shades.
Now, the name of the palette is 'smokey eyes'. To be honest, the shades don't really satisfy my expectation of smokey eyes, since I mostly use much darker tones to be more or less 'smokey'. But this palette is enough for those who seek for a less bold and more subtle smokey eyes look. Though I love the darkest shade, and combined with black eyeliner and/ or black eyeshadow in the outer corners/ crease, it works very well! I use the rest of them as highlighters, which they are amazing for.

Pros:

- natural-looking, no excess of shimmer
- beautiful colors; the lightest ones work as awesome highlighters for me, and the darkest one works for a smokey look, especially 'tuned up' with some black (this is subjective though, since when we talk 'smokey' I prefer something very intense)
- easy to blend, didn't experience much fallout either.
- lasts pretty well, didn't crease (and I wore it just with concealer, no primer).

Cons:

- the colors are a bit sheer, which is not necessarily bad, but I need more layers for good coverage
- the two darker colors are a little bit dusty, as you can see below and in the swatches
- as I said, the resistence is pretty good, though I need to find a new primer since I am out of primer, and then I can judge more fairly if the lasting will get from ok to amazing. :D

All in all, I really like it and would try their grey-black version of this palette too. I am thankful to GOSH for allowing me to review this product! Soon I'll review the last two of the GOSH package, the mascaras, which are my favourites from what they have sent me!

Did you try this palette or any GOSH palette?
p.s. As I said, I need to get a new primer, and I've got my eyes set on the one by Avon, does anyone have an opinion about that one yet? Please tell me! x

Now I'll leave you with a song that I love, from a band that I love, and the title of the song is the same as a movie that I love (even if I am not really into vampire stories, but the old Lost Boys is great).

EOTD: Tropical Sunrise

I was in the mood to play with colors today, and this is the result. Too bad the Kallos eyeliner is so watery, messy and all, and ruined it a bit...But heck!

I will make a part 2., called Tropical Sunset :)

Products used: same as always, 180 palette, Rimmel London Lash Accelerator mascara, Ruby Rose white eyeliner, Rimmel London eyebrow pencil.
Hope you like it!  x

LOTD: Cactus shades

Actually, it's the look of yesterday, but I didn't get to do any blogging. It is not some advanced look either, but I thought I'd show you anyway, since I took pictures of it and stuff. It's a simple green-black look with white waterline (I don't often wear white pencil on my waterline, just use it to intensify the highlights). That's another reason I immortalized it :D

and a baaad, blury one :P

I didn't take a picture of the products I used because I used the same as before; greens and black from the 180 palette and Ruby Rose palette, white Ruby Rose eyeliner, Mineral Hygienics foundation, powder and bronzer (will review them later, I love them!).

Okay, seems like I am having an extreme blogging day, I will have to recover the actual work tomorrow :"> I thought it might be time for another 'look of the day' kind of  post, since I had time to play with some make-up today. More like..I made time. p.s. Excuse my brows, I didn't pluck them today and also didn't apply any gel to keep them in order :P

I just wish my camera would reflect reality more, it looks much more intense than in pictures.

Eyes Of The Day: Purple dusk

So I'm done with my eye make-up, since I am going out a bit later; my cousin from Germany is home, haven't seen her for about 4 years, so we'll go have a sort of 'girls' night out' tonight :D
As I can't stay away from dark shades but I wanted to mix it with something colorful, I made matte black find harmony with shimmery pink & purple. It's more blended than contrasting, but I do prefer colors to melt together. Here are some not very sharp pictures about how it turned out:

Products used (after I used a thin layer of concealer instead of primer):

Rimmel London concealer
Miss Sporty Studio Lash eyeliner
180 palette
Ruby Rose palette
- Rimmel London Lash Accelerator mascara
- Farmec black eyeliner pencil
- Miss Sporty eyebrow pencil

Just another Mini Haul

Hey sweets. You know that no matter how much make-up you have, it is never enough, right? Well, yesterday I had to 'paint up' some models for a fashion show and I realized I could use some more colors for highlighting, and I wanted some more neutral colors anyway. I have the 180 palette, but it has way more excentric, vibrant colors than neutral, and even some of the few neutrals that are matte, are dusty and unpigmented. So I opted for some fast and cheaper solution. I guess many of you are familiar with the Ruby Rose cosmetics. They are usually pretty cheap and I personally love them, the quality is good too. They have all sorts of colors, neutral ones, bold ones, unusual ones...Perfect. So I got this pretty huge palette and I think it's EXTREMELY pretty. Here's a pic & swatch 'parade':
Swatched some of the colors randomly
Tried to fit it all in the pic :P
The lower compartment has 5 more colors (swatched below), plus some powder and blush that can always come in handy. Some mini pencils which I might not really use often, sponges and there was also a little brush included, but it fell out in my bag somewhere.
Needless to say, I love it. Has many light colors for highlights, thing that I was looking for, since I always run out of them so fast. Pastels, pearly, shimmery, extra-shimmery (with big glitter particles) and matte ones - ALL SUPER PIGMENTED <3 I don't really see the use in buying high-end, super expensive palettes, which contain even less colors, when you can but something for half the price or much cheaper and still get great quality. By the way, ALL THE SWATCHES WERE DONE WITHOUT ANY BASE/ PRIMER. Plus the colors are larger cpmpared to the ones in the 180 palette for example and contain a bigger amount of product.

Got a little bonus too, also from Ruby Rose, a smaller palette, which has a lot of neutrals as well, some beautiful champagne shades, some bronze shades, peachy shades and some greyish blue and green. This is small and much easier to carry around for smaller events or everyday use and it was really cheap (7ron). I swatched some of my favs of this one as well:
Last but not least, I bought a Farmasi lipgloss too, a nude shade. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with it, and I rarely like using glosses. This one is creamy, gives good coverage and it's not shimmery, which is great for me. This swatch didn't turn out too successful, but I'll return with a make-up look (will be perfect for summer in particular) using these products soon, hopefully. Until then:

What do you think of them? Have you tried any of these? Mwuah! :*

Alverde madness!

Yes yes, I know, I've been gone again...touche! Sorry though.
I've been preparing a pretty consistent post about several Alverde products, but due to lack of time, I kept postponing it :( I do love a lot of things about their products, as far as I know they are vegan too. They're pretty much inexpensive and for that, I'd say the quality is fairly awesome!

I'll start with a body butter I first bought last year and fell in love with. I bought the mini 50ml version for about 8 Ron, promised myself I'd go for the full one if there is such, but during my most recent dm frenzy I remembered my love for it and got the small one again. Doesn't matter, I love it. It's a Macadamia Nut Shea Butter body butter. The smell is extremely delicious, even if I know what it is, it reminds me of vanilla pudding with raisins, or something. Though it is not too sweet, not too heavy, just perfect. The consistence is quite solid,  but creamy and melts quite fast, being easy to work into the skin. I LOVE how soft and firm it leaves the skin, the scent it leaves behind and the fact that it gets absorbed quickly and won't leave you feel greasy. Definitely one of my favourite products ever!
The next product is a Pine Foot Butter, this one is 200ml. Huge! I wonder if I will ever finish it! :)) This one is thicker than the body butter, more greasy but not in the sticky and unpleasant way. Rich consistence, also easy to work it into the skin. Helps hydrate dry skin, so I don't only use it on feet, but also other occasionally dry areas like elbows and knees, and I'd even use it on the entire body in the absence of my actual body lotions/oils/butters. Nourishes the skin, comforting and relaxing it, and as well as the previous product, it has an AMAZING smell! I'd say it's a slight smell of pine mixed with citrus smells of all sorts. Can't determine it exactly, but it is awesome. As you can see in the picture, once I dropped it and the lid broke :( I can only blame myself for that, for being clumbsy. So I keep it wrapped in a plastic bag. One night I forgot to wrap it and the surface of it felt a bit dry afterwards, but that was all, no major damage. Again, 10 points!
Next up is an eye contour cream, been using it for a long time now, had several tubes. One tube is 15 ml, but lasts for quite long! It is said it needs to be applied in the morning and evening, though I have it near me and apply it more often sometimes. It absorbs very fast, leaves the skin matte, not at all greasy. I apply it all around my eyes and even on my lashes, makes them soft and seems to be taking care of them at the same time. The smell is subtle, of camomile, the package is cute and you can dose it easily, since the tip of the tube allows you to only get a small quantity at once. Needless to say, love this one as well.
Last but not least, after all the yummy care products, let's add a splash of color to this post! After all, when you took care of the canvas, you can start decorating it! Despite the fact that, for some reason, I was never tooooo fond of buying cosmetics from a brand that also makes bodycare products (though I do anyway sometimes) because I guess I think they make better products if they focus on one thing or I dunno...the Alverde make-up products have been winking at me for a while. I've decided to give it a go since I've been so smitten with their other stuff. Especially when I saw this eyeshadow. Been looking for a matte dark brown since that is something I use for a few different purposes in make-up, so I always need to have at least one, and I ran out of my last one that I had in a Golden Rose quad. I use it for shading, helping the eyes gain a certain shape, and also face contouring. But that of course in a discrete way, since eventhough it is a buildable color, it is very pigmented and you really have to know how to create the game of shadows without making it look ridiculous. Also, not having very defined cheekbones, it helps with that as well. So this eyeshadow plays several roles in my make-up rutine, especially for party make-up. But this was just a small trick I use. Quality is pretty awesome and made me want to try more of their make-up line. Here are some pics and swatches, without and with primer.

What were your experiences with Alverde?
